Research and Development Projects

Since its foundation in 2002 the Web Compliance Center is conducting international research and development projects. In the application–oriented projects that are currently conducted the focus is on the following topics: Web Compliance (I2Web and WAI-ACT), user modelling (VICON), advanced user interfaces (ABC) and Ambient Assisted Living (WebDA).

For the broader uptake of accessibility as well as the related design paradigm Design for All, WebCC is project partner in networks relevant in this context such as EDeAN and the thematic network eAccess+. Beyond this WebCC is hosting the first mailing list on accessibility in Germany.

Standards for Web Compliance like the guidelines for mobile Web or Web accessibility are developed admittedly within W3C. WebCC participates actively here in several working groups, e.g. ERT (Evaluation and Repair Tools Working Group) and RD (Research and Development Working Group). In Germany WebCC is member of the working group ‚Interoperability’ within the German research initiative on Ambient Assisted Living of the VDI/VDE-IT.
